Oro Gold: Secrets of Foundation Application

oro gold cosmetics foundationFoundation is a great way to have your skin tone appear more even. Having the best product available can make all the difference in the world. Choose well-tested products, like Oro Gold skin care, for optimal results. For blemishes, under-eye circles, and pigment spots, concealer can be used to achieve the desired outcome. Concealer should be applied on bare skin or on top of the foundation. Learning the best application and blending techniques are critical to a flawless look.

Application

There are many types of skin, and therefore many types of foundations. Each type of foundation requires a unique application. For liquid foundation, always shake well before using. On dehydrated or dry skin, apply foundation immediately after moisturizing, blending foundation and cream together. On normal skin, allow a few minutes between the application of moisturizer and foundation. For oily skin, apply foundation to a clean face, or replace moisturizer with a skin care product that reduces sebum production. Moisturizing the skin before foundation application is a must for healthy, glowing skin. Oro Gold products and other reputable cosmetics companies offer a variety of moisturizers for all skin types.

Blending

Place a dot of foundation on the largest areas of the face first – forehead, cheeks, and chin, then blend outwards with the fingers or a brush. Sponges are not recommended because they tend to soak up the liquid, which will sit there until it is washed – you will use up more product than needed and there is a greater chance of product contamination. Blend to hairline and jawline. Place a small amount of foundation on the nose, lips, and eyelids, and blend well. For the eye area, use the ring finger or pinky to gently pat the product into the skin. Wait a minute to let the foundation set, then apply additional foundation to the areas that need extra coverage. Avoid sweeping motions, as this can pull on delicate skin or wiping makeup off. Use circular motions instead to blend.

Setting and Retouching

Never use powder foundation on top of liquid foundation. This will create a heavy, unnatural look that will likely slide off as the day wears on. To finish, and for retouching during the day, use a loose or pressed powder that is light textured and does not contain oils. Setting foundation with a powder is crucial for oily skin. But, for dry skin, the foundation will likely stay in place without the powder.

It is not recommended that liquid foundation be used for retouching because it is nearly impossible to blend it well on top of powder, dirt, and sebum. For oily spots, blot with a tissue or blotting paper to reduce shine. Retouch with finishing powder. If you use powder foundation, or cream-to-powder foundation, it is OK to use the same product for retouching.

Foundation can give you the perfect platform to apply other cosmetics and have a beautiful, flawless look. Starting out with the best products – like Oro Gold products - will give you the basis and the confidence for the best results possible. It is also critical to learn basic application and blending techniques, as well as the do’s and don’ts of setting and retouching.
